Zhiyong Fu

Dr. Zhiyong Fu is an associate professor and the vice director of Information Art and Design Department, Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He was the Secretary-General of Art branch of Computer Basic Education Steering Committee for Liberal Art, Ministry of Education. During January to April 1998, he was a visiting professor of Kansei Evaluation special research project at Tsukuba University, Japan. He was a member of Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, China, 2006. Supported by CSC Visiting Program for Backbone Teachers, He was a visiting scholar in school of design at Carnegie Mellon University, USA during August 2008 to August 2009.

His research interests include information and interaction design, service design, social innovation and smart city design research. He undertook and finished about 20 design research projects, including the ministry of education's general project and several international collaborative projects, and published more than 30 papers in the international conferences, such as ACM Ubicomp, HCII, IASDR, DESIS and DMI.

He is board member of CCD at HCII 2012/2013/2014, and the chair of future urban sustainability and social innovation session. He is the member of subcommittee of Design of ACM CHI 2014, and Council Member of ICACHI. He is co-founder of Design Beijing Lab and focus on the smart city design and urban experience research. He is the main designer and speaker of annual Smart City international exhibition & symposium at China Millennium Monument Museum during the Beijing Design Week, and also involved in setting up of National Smart City Innovation Center in Beijing. Currently he is in charge of a new incubation platform, Tsinghua x-lab united design center and Tsinghua maker space to promote the education and practices of the design-driven innovation and entrepreneurship.
